Aromatic baths

Properties

Phybiosis' Aromatic baths are ready to use preparations enhancing the action of essential oils through a sophisticated combination with glycerin with which they form a binding complex that induces a moisturizing action by adhering to the immerged skin.
An emulsifier is added to permit the dissolution of the essential oil complex in the bath water.
To be therapeutically effective, the bath should last 20 minutes minimum, at a constant temperature of approximately 98º F (or nearest comfortable).

Respiratory

Two of the most efficient essential oils for respiratory ailments are Eucalyptus and Pine. Both have high contents in Monoterpenic oxides and Monoterpenes.

Eucalyptus

The essential oil of Eucalyptus globulus contains mostly Monoterpenic oxides (1.8 cineol) which are powerful broncho-pulmonary expectorants valuable in asthma, emphysema, coughs etc., some Monoterpenes (a-pinene) which are excellent aerial antiseptics, acting very efficiently on the respiratory system, particularly in cases of colds, flu, bronchitis, tracheitis etc., and a few ketones (Camphor) which are powerful mucolytics very useful on stuffed passage ways.
The essential oil of Clove buds contains phenols which are powerful anti-infectious agents.
This bath preparation targets the upper respiratory tract (Sinusitis, rhinitis, Pharyngitis, Tracheitis, sore throat etc.)

Pine

This bath preparation targets the lower respiratory tract (Bronchitis, Asthma, Emphysema, Colds, Flu, Tracheitis, Coughs etc.)
The essential oil of Pine needles contains primarily Monoterpenes.
The essential oil of Rosemary camphor contains mostly Monoterpenes, Ketones and Monoterpenic Oxides.

Muscle Relaxant

Juniper

The essential oil of Juniper contains mostly Monoterpenes which are powerful revulsive and analgesics.
The essential oil of Sassafras contains mostly Phenol-methyl-ethers (Safrol), acting very much like ethers which are powerful spasmolytics sedatives, with additional anti-inflammatory properties.
The essential oil of Wintergreen contains mostly Esters (Methyl salicylate) which are powerful antispasmodics combining the anti-inflammatory action of the acids to the tonifying alcohols.
The essential oil of Rosemary camphor contains mostly Monoterpenes, Ketones which are soothing and sedating and Monoterpenic Oxides which are mostly expectorants and bear no significant action on the muscular system.

The combination of these essential oils in a bath preparation have been clinically proven to be very useful in cases of muscular aches and pains (cervicalgia, dorsalgia, lombalgia), muscle spasms (torticolis), joint inflammations (arthritis), painful joints (arthrosis), musculo-skeletal conditions (sciatica, cruralgia) etc., or just to unwind. It is also an excellent preparation to benefit more efficiently from vertebral manipulations, both before hand by relieving muscular spasms, and after hand as a pain reliever.

Stimulant

Lavender

The essential oil of Lavender contains mostly esters (lynalyl acetate) which are primarily antispasmodic, soothing and help balance the central nervous system, and alcohols (linalol) which are mostly tonic, neuro-tonic and immuno-stimulant.
This bi-chemistry of the essential oil of lavender explains the clinical findings suggesting this oil is simultaneously sedating and tonifying. Therefore, lavender will not wear out, but stimulate instead, while balancing and calming. Absolutely the best way to recuperate after an effort or an ailment.
The essential oil of oregano contains mostly phenols which are powerful anti-infectious agents and stimulants.
The essential oil of Peppermint contains mostly alcohols (Menthol) and ketones (Menthone).
Ketones are bipolar. At small dosage they are rather calming, soothing, sedating. At high dosage they become tonic, stimulant.

The association of these essential oils in a specific concentration ratio, provides a bath preparation that turns out to be extremely helpful in cases of fatigue, convalescence, restlessness, agitation, stress, anxiety.
Taken before hand, such a bath will prepare marvelously for an athletic effort. Taken after hand, it will permit the individual to recover faster and more easily from fatigue. Can be advantageously taken at any age.

Soothing

Orange

This bath preparation is particularly indicated for conditions involving stress, anxiety, insomnia, agitation, restlessness; whenever a need for rest becomes an absolute necessity.
Due to its rather pleasant aroma, it is well accepted by children, especially important for those that have been abusively diagnosed as having a so-called attention deficit disorder.
Due to the presence of citrus essential oils, it is important not to expose to sun light after a bath as it may induce photosensitive reactions. This bath should preferably be taken in the evenings. The essential oils in this bath preparation are:

- Orange peel, containing mostly Monoterpenic alcohols (linalol) which are immunostimulant and moderate anti-infectious agents.
- Lavendine, containing mostly Monoterpenic alcohols (linalol), Esters (lynalyl acetate) which are powerful antispasmodic combining the anti-inflammatory action of the acids to the tonifying action of the alcohols, and Ketones (camphor) which are soothing and sedating.
- Grapefruit peel, containing mostly Monoterpenes (limonene) which are revulsive and analgesics.
- Marjoram, containing mostly Monoterpenes and Monoterpenic alcohols is soothing, anaphrodisiac and helps rebalance the nervous system.

Exalting

Ylang Ylang

This bath preparation is particularly suited for our well-being. Ylang-Ylang has long been considered as a sexual stimulant, probably because it induces calm and well-being, precursors of any sexual activity. Nevertheless, this oil liberates voluptuous aromas, a significant agent to put ourselves in the right mood. It is a bath that will make us feel better, and possibly enjoy life more.

The essential oils in This bath preparation are:
- Ylang-Ylang, containing mostly Sesquiterpenes (germacrene) which are calming and anti-inflammatory, and Esters which are powerful antispasmodic combining the anti-inflammatory action of the acids to the tonifying action of the alcohols.
- Lavendine, which contains mostly Monoterpenic alcohols (linalol), Esters (lynalyl acetate) and Ketones (camphor) which are soothing and sedating.
- Peppermint, containing mostly alcohols (Menthol) and ketones (Menthone).
- Geranium, containing mostly Monoterpenic alcohols (geraniol) and Esters.

Circulatory

This new bath preparation has been formulated to help strengthen the capillary walls and improve venous and lymphatic circulation. This will be particularly useful in cases of swellings of the legs, ankles and feet, or fluid retention and even edemas.
Due to the action of vasodilatation induced by hot water, this is the only type of bath that should not be taken too hot, but at a temperature not to exceed 95º F. If the swelling is concentrated on the lower limbs, it is even recommended to keep the legs above the water and massage them regularly with the water from the bath. Taken repeatedly, this method does wonders for the circulation.

The essential oils in this bath preparation are:
- Cypress, the most active due to its Terpenes containing flavinic derivatives.
- Lemon peel with its contents in coumarins, acting as a venous decongestant and fluidizing the blood.\
- Rosemary, containing also some flavinic derivatives, acting also as a venous decongestant.
- Basil, high in phenol-methyl-ethers, highly anti-spasmodic and venous decongestant.

Menopause

For those of you who feel the need to act during this transitional phase, we have developed a bath preparation to cover both the reduction of hormonal activity and the changes of moods that may be affected.

- Sage, the major component due to its contents in ketones showing hormone-like properties.
- Cypress, the second component for its action on circulation. Patchouli, bringing a note of emotional benefits from its strong aroma, and also adding its antidepressant, aphrodisiac and decongestant actions.
- Orange, for its soothing and sedative actions.
- Lavender, containing mostly esters (lynalyl acetate) which are primarily antispasmodic, soothing and help balance the central nervous system, and alcohols (linalol) which are mostly tonic and neuro-tonic.
- Geranium, containing mostly Monoterpenic alcohols (geraniol) which are tonic and neuro-tonic, and Esters which are anti-spasmodic and balance the nervous system.
